Welcome!
Welcome to Phase I Community Engagement for the Te’tuxwtun Project.
Te’tuxwtun (pronounced Tey-tux-tun) is a unique development project located on the traditional territory of the Snuneymuxw people. It is named after the traditional name of Mount Benson, which overlooks the site. Te’tuxwtun reminds us that when we honour and heal the land, everyone benefits.
The project looks to develop land near 5th St. and Howard Ave in the Harewood neighbourhood into affordable housing, services, open space, and amenities using a process that brings people and land together.
This project is a joint partnership with Snuneymuxw First Nation, BC Housing, the City of Nanaimo, and Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools.
Collectively they are trying to elevate this part of Harewood to its fullest potential, foster community, and satisfy the immediate and essential need for housing and accessible services in Nanaimo.
In this phase, we are interested in understanding your desires for the Te’tuxwtun site. Your feedback will help inform design concepts for the land that we will bring back out for your input in the Spring/Summer 2022.
