Our virtual auction is coming. We will put this auction online on May 20, which is a great opportunity for our readers to purchase a package for a maintenance service package, a training flight or a product. Monitor our communications on this subject.

Want to contribute? It is still time. You have until May 13 to be part of our auction by contributing either a product or a service that we will put on sale during our 2024 Auction. All profits from the auction will contribute to the financial support of our mission which is to promote general aviation and aviation safety.

The auction will take two forms: a virtual auction as well as a shouted auction during the fundraising dinner which will be hosted by Gaston Lepage, our friendly honorary president. The virtual auction will be available via the internet starting May 20 and will end at the conclusion of the fundraising dinner.

Each donation will be the subject of a sponsorship which will be displayed throughout the evening of the fundraising dinner. The event is sold out, so nearly 300 people will be exposed to your sponsorship. We will also publish your sponsorship in our media such as the newsletter, the website, our Facebook page and L'Aviateur magazine.

As an indication, here is the reach of our different media.

As you can see, we reach many aviation fans and we would be delighted to use our media to make you better known and also to say THANK YOU.

I want to contribute and thus show my support for Aviateurs.Québec

Security capsule: Verification flight, a MUST!

In large companies, airline pilots must undergo a skills check every 6 months. During this training, emergency procedures and updating knowledge of the aircraft systems are reviewed.

In general aviation, it is also expected that pilots have a knowledge update program, but there is no indication that a pilot who flies regularly must carry out a check flight, with a competent person, on a regular basis. . However, we all know that memory is a forgetting faculty and that flying alone or reviewing emergency procedures alone does not promote the maintenance of skills. We forget, we adopt bad habits and all this while thinking that we are always at the ideal level. Some pilots take the initiative themselves to fly regularly with an instructor, particularly pilots who do not fly in winter. So, when spring arrives, the first flight takes place in the company of a flight instructor. And you, what do you do? Do you regularly review emergency procedures with an instructor? Do you think you are still at an ideal skill level in an emergency?
