Starting tomorrow, the Library will provide free solar eclipse glasses to residents – while supplies last. Where and when to get the glasses, we don‘t know yet. We’ll let you know when we do. The Ottawa Citizen has five suggested locations to watch the eclipse: Upper Canada Village, Canadian Museum of Nature, Carleton University, Canadian Aviation and Space Museum, and the Osgoode Legion. The eclipse will occur Monday April 8, starting at at 2:10 pm and hitting peak darkness at 3:25 pm. Electric Buses Reader Guillaume writes to us: ‘I was just reading the newsletter from 20 March, and I’d say it’s a bit of a stretch to say that ‘Ottawa electricity is effectively zero carbon’: 13% of Ontario electricity is high-carbon, and the amount of CO2/kWh has actually gone up since 2019, almost doubling (from 43gCO2eq/kWh in 2019 to 76 in 2023) because nuclear production has gone down and gas production up. Québec électricity is not even zero carbon, at a steady 28gCO2eq/kWh, but it's as close as possible.’ Guillaume also provided this facinating live map of electricity production in Ontario. – Martha and Darren | - Food + Drink Update
