Shuttles between the Gatineau Park vistors' centre and Pink Lake will run Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday between 9:30 am and 2 pm, as well as Saturday and Sunday. The new service begins May 18.
The shuttles from downtown Ottawa and downtown Gatineau will continue to be weekend-only. (Ted Raymond at CTV) (Shuttle page) đ Chalk River - Canadian Nuclear Laboratories upstream at Chalk River was found to have discharged toxic sewage during peak fish spawning season. While Enviroment Canada has said that the sewage was toxic, it did not say where it was discharged or how much, and only admitted that it happened after the CBC asked it because of a tip. Canadian Nuclear Laboratories wants to start storing nuclear waste soon. (Brett Forester at CBC)
đ Canada Day - Cuts by the City and Heritage Canada have left the Barrhaven Canada Day event short $15,000. The Canadian Heritage Grant programme cut $4,000 from the Canada Day event to $10,000. The City of Ottawa Civic Funding Grant gave zero dollars on a $3,000 request. (Tyler Fleming at CBC)
đ Barrhaven - The landlord of the family murdered in Barrhaven in March has sold the house because of the tragedy. The landlord said the murders have shaken him deeply. The pre-trial of the suspect, a student who lived with the family, will begin next year. (Natasha OâNeill at CityNews)
