Lots and lots of samples. 🚨 Ottawa Police Service - An Ottawa police sergeant facing 26 criminal charges including breach of trust, aggravated assault, and sexual assault has pled guilty to some and received house arrest. Staff Sgt. William Hinterberger was initially charged in 2019, and arrested twice more for breaching orders in 2019 and 2020. Hinterberger received six months of house arrest and three months of curfew between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., with some exceptions. As he was suspended with pay upon his first arrest, Hinterberger has been paid $428,274 since 2019, including a 22 per cent raise last year. Immediately before his guilty plea, he resigned from the Ottawa Police Service. (CBC)
🛩️ WestJet - WestJet pilots vote to give their union a strike mandate. The airline, one the few that still fly from Ottawa International Airport, is negotiating with its 1,600 pilots over pay and scheduling. Should talks break down, the strike could begin the week before the May long weekend. (The Canadian Press)
🏗️ Lansdowne 2.0 - If you are interested in rebuilding Lansdowne, the City wants to hear from you. The new Lansdowne plan is to build a new event centre, north side stands, and retail space at ground level with separate multi-level residential structures above it. BUT NOT SO FAST. The City won't let a developer build the retail space and residences unless the builder buys the air rights first, which is a great way to increase the value of price of land that has long been paid for.
