| | 🛻 Convoy Update Definitely not Convoy Update - The United People of Canada are appealing their ouster from the former St. Brigid's Church last year. The United People, who rented the church and had plans to buy it, were evicted after a court case showed they had not paid agreed-upon amounts of money. The appeal is arguing that the eviction was unlawful because the United People were not given 30 days notice. (Andrew Duffy in the Ottawa Citizen)
🚌 Outaouais School Bus Strike - Two Outaouais school boards are paying parents milage to drive their kids to school. The Western Québec School Board will pay $10 per day for trips less than 14km, $20 if it is longer than that. The Centre de services scolaire des Hauts-Bois-de-l'Outaouais has already been paying 50¢ per km since May 1. The bus driver’s union, the Teamsters, says the buses would still be running if that money was going to the drivers instead. (CBC)
🚊 O Train - Independent report finds 47 items that OC Transpo needs to fix, City says it is already fixing them. The review by SYSTRA Canada Inc and RATP Dev Canada found that the O Train had insufficient winter testing, simulated only short distruptions, and that running the Trillium Line extension on a single track will mean it cannot meet passenger number expectations. OC Transpo said thanks for the report, we got this. (Kate Porter)
🌊 Ottawa River Flooding - The City’s flood emergency operations centre is closing now that the threat of rising water has passed. This year’s water levels reached the 2017 heights but not as high as the devastating 2019 levels. Sandbags will no longer be available at 28 distribution locations but can still be picked up at 29 Hurdman Rd. (Ted Raymond at CTV)
🚲 Rack & Roll - Cyclists can practice placing their bike on the rack at the front of buses at Tunney’s Pasture. OC Transpo buses have bus racks but many cyclists are leery about using them in fear of delaying the other passengers or ruining their bike by loading it incorrectly.
