HELLO OTTAWA

Win tickets to the Ottawa Home & Remodelling Show

Winter is here and it’s sometimes nice at this time of year to burrow under a warm throw and plan for spring renos.

The Ottawa Home & Remodelling Show is a great place to start your planning, with renovation experts on site to guide you.

We’re giving away three pairs of tickets to the show, which runs January 18-21.

For your chance to win one of the three pairs, send us an email to ohrstix@theottawan.com and the correct answer to this question: Where is the Ottawa Home & Remodelling Show January 18-21 happening?

Martha’s Mom will draw the winners’ names from her choosin’ hat on Monday and we’ll announce them in Tuesday’s newsletter.

OTTAWA HISTORIC LOGO T-SHIRTS

BNR T-shirts

Founded in 1971, Bell Northern Research was purchased by Nortel and eventually shared that companies fate. The BNR campus in Ottawa was fondly deemed the 'Big Nerd Ranch', and is now the headquarters of the Department of National Defence.

Help support the ottawan by buying one of our historic logo t-shirts.

CITY HALL AGENDA

What’s going on at City Hall

No meetings until January 16.

WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT

🏅 Ottawa Sports Hall of Fame

  •  The Ottawa Sports Hall of Fame requires a new home. The City of Ottawa Archives has decided to use its space in City Hall for other displays and removed all previous sports plaques without making any decisions on where they could go. There had been 273 awardees since 2013. (Koyuki Hayashi in the Ottawa Citizen)

🗳️ Casselman

  •  Casselman council has been slapped for having secret meetings. The town, 60 km southeast of Ottawa, had a virtual meeting open to the public, then ended it wishing everyone good night. Once the public was gone, the council continued meeting for another 45 minutes. (Trevor Pritchard at CBC)

🌽 Donovan Burey’s Weekly Grocery Store Review

  •  Every week Donovan Burey goes through all the grocery flyers and posts the deals on Ottawa Reddit. Mortadella for $1.49/100g and pork loin at $1.77/lb are standouts. (/Ottawa)
