Get ready for Lansdowne 2.0.

The City and Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group have big plans for the revelopment of the site, involving tearing down stands, building housing, and adding retail and restaurants.

The official development site is here but the City has made it largely impenetrable. The details are in this PDF, which again, if the City want you to read it they would have made it nicer.

But the City is asking for your opinion about Lansdowne 2.0 in this online survey. Let the City know what you think.

  • Over the weekend, the Ravens women’s side beat the Queen's Gaels 71-59 to win the Bronze Baby Trophy for the 2023 U Sports Basketball championship. Despite the name, the Bronze Baby is awared to the winners. The men’s side beat St. Francis Xavier University 109-104 in double overtime, and were awared the much clearer in name WP McGee Trophy. (Josh Pringle at CTV)

🐴 Horses of courses

  • The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have given a local horse, Noble, to King Charles for his coronation. The King had requested that the Mounties send a musical ride horse for him to use in trooping the colours when his current horse, George, retires. (Jordan Hoffman in Vanity Fair)

🚨 Licence plate leniency

  • Ottawa Police will be giving Quebéc drivers who have not renewed their licence plates a temporary break. Québec drivers have been dealing with nightmarish computer problems at the Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec, which now has granted an extention for insurance holders until Aug 29. Ottawa Police say they won't ticket until then if they see a plate with an expiry between March 9 and that date. (CBC)

🐕 Rescue dogs

  • An Ottawa Valley shelter is looking for homes for 19 dogs. Police in Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan Township west of Ottawa found 38 dogs in distress at a house last week. Eighteen dogs went to other shelters, one was adopted, but Riverview Rescues is still looking to home another 19. (Michael Woods at CTV) (Riverview Rescues)
