We are looking for five APTS members with the job title of “1114 - Lawyer” to find innovative, pragmatic solutions for these important issues. Find out more | | Pre-budget consultations: step up to the mic Do you want to share your opinion with Québec’s Minister of Finance, Éric Girard, about the shock treatment being imposed on the health and social services system? Now’s your chance! Pre-budget consultations are open, and you can express your point of view by completing the online form on the MSSS website. The APTS will submit a multi-page brief soon, as it has been doing for years. But the Minister has never deigned to invite APTS representatives to share their point of view in person. Take the questionnaire | | "Do I, or don't I?" Tensions can arise between your employer’s demands and your ethical obligations as a professional. But their management right doesn’t mean that they can impose just any directive or way of working on you. Knowing how to draw a clear line between what your employer can and can’t demand is important. That’s why it’s a good idea to understand the roles and responsibilities set out in your code of ethics and the provisions of your collective agreement that apply in such cases. La Presse canadienne has confirmed it, in an article by Lia Lévesque, a distinguished journalist who has long been covering health and social services. “The APTS, a major health care union, has just won two complaints against the CIUSSS de l’Estrie for obstruction of union activities, related to public sector strike action days in November 2023,” she writes. A “major” compliment, two great wins: the year is off on the right foot! Read the article (in French) | | STILL FIGHTING for women's rights On March 8, International Women’s Rights Day, a series of actions will be launched surrounding the World March of Women (WMW), culminating on October 18 with a big rally in Québec City. Until then, show that you’re STILL FIGHTING by getting the thematic pin and the graphic material (wallpaper, banner and images for social media). And on March 8, take part in the launch of the World March of Women or come march with us in Montréal, as part of a demonstration organized by Women of Diverse Origins. It’s a great way to plan for the year ahead. Want to give it a try? Note that this is a simulation module and doesn’t take into account premiums that haven’t changed (responsibility, inconvenience premiums, etc.) or some less common situations. Try it | | Help advance the youth mission Do you work in youth protection? The Institut universitaire Jeunes en difficulté (IUJD) wants your opinion to help advance knowledge in the field. To share it, simply respond to two short online questionnaires (in French) by clicking the following links. The first is about the safety culture in youth protection services in Québec; the second is about the tools and activities available from the institute. The IUJD is a regular APTS partner. Its mission is to improve services for youth in difficulty, and it values close cooperation between clinical and scientific partners.
