Some downtown streets will be closed until Thursday morning to handle the many visitors to the former prime minister, Brian Mulroney, who is lying in state.

Closed are:

• Wellington Street from Elgin Street to Bank Street.
• Sparks Street from Elgin Street to Bank Street.
• O'Connor Street from Wellington Street to Queen Street.
• Metcalfe Street from Wellington Street to Queen Street.

People may pay their respects until 6:00 pm tonight and from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm tomorrow at the Sir John A. Macdonald Building, 144 Wellington Street.

Afterwards, Mulroney will be moved to Montréal with a state funeral at the Notre-Dame Basilica, 11:00 Saturday.

•  It was confirmed that the new fossil fuel powered generators for the new electric buses would use natural gas. the ottawan watched the entire meeting on YouTube and we agree with Ottawa Bulldog here, City staff were less than clear on how the electric buses would be recharged. A staff member said that the generators were meant to be back-up and Hydro Ottawa was planning a substation near by – but it’s not clear that the garages have enough Hydro Power to charge all the buses.
