| | 🏥 Ottawa Hospital - The City is requiring the Ottawa Hospital to pay $12.9 million to allow the hospital to lease out a new long-term care and retirement complex. In 2005, the City sold a piece of land at 1967 Riverside Dr to the Ottawa Hospital for $1, with a stipulation the land could be reclaimed if it is not used for non-profit health care use. The Hospital now has plans to lease out five acres to a private, for-profit long-term care home and retirement residence. The City is willing to let the hospital lease the land – for $12.9 million. ⚙️ Federal Civil Service - The Federal Civil Service has grown 40 per cent since 2015, the year the Liberal Party formed a government. That’s about 21,000 new Federal workers, not all of whom are located in Ottawa. Employment and Social Development, Public Health Agency of Canada, and the Canada Revenue Agency saw the most growth, while the Department of National Defence and Library and Archives Canada lost employees. 🏒 The Sens - The Senators' president of business operations, Anthony LeBlanc, has resigned with immediate effect. LeBlanc, who joined the club in 2020, says that he is leaving on good terms. 💥 Almonte Heritage Building - The owner of the 1887 Almonte Methodist Church wants to tear down the Union Street end, including the iconic tower. The building has not been used as a church since 1951 and had mostly been used for manufacturing businesses. The owner says he cannot afford the cost of a heritage restoration. (C. H.
