OTTAWA HISTORIC LOGO T-SHIRTS

BNR T-shirts

Founded in 1971, Bell Northern Research was purchased by Nortel and eventually shared that companies fate. The BNR campus in Ottawa was fondly deemed the ‘Big Nerd Ranch’, and is now the headquarters of the Department of National Defence.

Help support the ottawan by buying one of our historic logo t-shirts.

OTTAWA STATS

  • – The Stittsville skating team collectively brought home five gold, one silver, and one bronze from the 2024 Special Olympics National Winter Games in Calgary.  (Lesley McKay in Stittsville Central

Quote

  • I’ll go with the Bee Movie. It may be the least controversial pick out there if you ask me. An all-time performance by Jerry Seinfeld and absolutely a cinematic masterpiece.

  • – New CTV Ottawa anchor Austin Lee in answer to the question ‘What’s a book or movie you’d recommend to everyone to watch/read at least once?’. (Faces magazine)

📋 Agenda

WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT

🚨 Barrhaven

  •  Six people were killed in a home on Berrigan Drive last night. Four of the dead are children. A person has been taken into custody. Police have not released much yet but say there is no threat to public safety and it is not believed to be an incidence of domestic violence. (Barrhaven Independent)

📱 ArriveCAN App

  •  The Federal government has barred two companies involved in developing the ArriveCAN app from future contracts. GC Strategies Inc. and Coradix Technology Consulting have been barred by Public Services and Procurement Canada due to internal investigations. (Rachel Aiello at CTV)

🥙 Shawarma

  •  Orléans West-Innes ward councillor Laura Dudas wants Ottawa to declare itself the ‘Shawarma Capital of Canada’. The declaration would not mean the sharwarma is the official food of Ottawa, merely note that no other city comes close to the number of quality of shawarma joints. It is hard to argue with the truth. (Elyse Skura at CBC)

⛴️ Quyon Ferry

🛫 Ottawa International Airport

  •  Air France, the only airline flying from Ottawa to Europe, has expanded its schedule to seven days per week. Previously, Air France flew five days per week. The new schedule begins June 10. Air France’s flight to Paris remains the only non-Americas route available from Ottawa. (William Eltherington at CTV)

🛻 Convoy News

  •  The court will hear arguments that Convoy co-organizers Tamara Lich and Chris Barber acted as co-conspirators. Lich and Barber both requested that the judge toss out that part of the criminal charges against them, arguing that there is no evidence the two conspired together. The Crown wants to deem the two as co-conspirators as that would allow evidence against one to be used against the other. (Laura Osman in the Canadian Press)

DEALS OF THE DAY

It’s Pots and Pans Sale time at Grace in the Kitchen. Visit the website for deals on Ballarini Bologna, Zwilling, and Henckels.

While you would regularly spend $64 for four vegan nail polishes from BKIND, right now you can get a Nail Polish Mystery Box for just $30.

BUT, ONE MORE THING ...

Two hundred and forty 👥 aged 18 to 80 took part in a University of Ottawa 🧪 that measured the ‘the first comprehensive investigation into inter-generational emoji use in adults over 60-years-old’. The 📚 found that people over the age of 6️⃣0️⃣ understood emojis but did not know if they had the 🧠 to use them properly. (The Study)
