You can view the Lansdown 2.0 report here. Here are 10 illustrations of the plan. Over the weekend, people have been picking it apart. - In the financial details, to meet the projective revenues, the Ottawa RedBlacks and the Ottawa 67s must â must â make the playoffs most years and increase their ticket sales. (David Reevely on Twitter)
- The financial plan includes $500,000 per year in revenue from hotel taxes. There is no hotel in the plan nor has it been mentioned before. One Twitter user notes that at 4 per cent, this mythical hotel would need to book $12,000,000 a year in revenue to get $500,000 in tax. She points out that the Stittsville and Riverside Secondary Schools have not been built, the Board doesnât want a second elementary school in Findlay Creek, rudeness was shown to parents concerned about mixed-sex washrooms, a parent was barred from wearing her police uniform to career day, and the Board has shown litte interest over the lack of school buses that transport their students. đ„ Wanton Destruction - The Aylmer ruins at DeschĂȘnes Rapids will be destroyed, says QuĂ©becâs minister of culture. The 137 year-old ruins on the Ottawa River are the remains of a dam which helped power long-ago mills. QuĂ©bec considers the ruins a danger to the public despite the attraction to white water kayakers. (Ottawa Citizen)
đš Elegy - Former Ottawa Police officer Robin Easey, who championed rehabiliation, has passed away. In 1984, as a Nepean police officer, Easey and his partner were shot in a robbery at Bayshore Shopping Centre. Easey was blinded and required the use of a wheelchair. Later working for the Ottawa Police, Easey was a strong advocate for rehabilitation and support for survivors of severe trauma. He was 70. (Ted Raymond at CTV)
đ§ Rideau Street closed for 48 hours - A one block section of Rideau Street will be closed west from the intersection of Rideau and King Edward Avenue for 48 hours starting Friday. The street will be closed to remove a construction crane. (Ottawa Citizen)
