HELLO OTTAWA
The township of Killaloe, Hagarty, and Richards is outside of our usual baliwick, being located 166 km up the Valley. But this story by Terry Fleurie in the Eganville Leader is just so weird.
At a recent town council meeting, councillor Brian Pecoskie asked Mayor Dave Mayville for the ‘second set’ of books of the town’s finances.
‘We can’t go ahead with a finance meeting. Me, as a councillor, I don’t know about the other ones, I can’t make decisions if I don’t have all the numbers,’ he said.
Says the Mayor, ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about, double books?’
Says Pecoskie, ‘[D]uring your campaign, it was yourself and your campaign team were saying there were double books, double figures, different numbers.’
Responds the Mayor, ‘“I don’t know where you’re getting double booking from.’
‘You’re the one that said it. I don’t know where it came from, I’m asking you,’ answers the councillor.
See! It’s not just Ottawa. There is definitely something in the water.
