The rules state chefs in the competition must be part of a restaurant that is currently operating to take part. Dufourâs beautifully designed Buvette DaphnĂ©e on William Street has been closed since a staff walkout over management practices May 31. While Buvette DaphnĂ©e is still closed, it appears to be accepting reservations for August 1 and beyond. Chef Sarath Teegavarapu of KathÄ will take Dufourâs place. (Peter Hum in the Ottawa Citizen)
đ Alexandra Bridge - The indignity of the Alexandra Bridge continues. Public Services and Procurement Canada held a press conference yesterday, reiterating that retaining the bridge, which carries 4,000 pedestrians and cyclists daily, is not feasable but would not say what the cost of replacing the bridge would be. The Federal government believes that the 1902 bridge is beyond saving. A 2018 report said replacing the Alexandra would cost $800 million but refurbishing it would cost $1 billion. (Catherine Morrison in the Ottawa Citizen)
đș Night Mayor - In a video, CTV Ottawaâs Patricia Boal speaks with the Cityâs new night mayor Mathieu Grondin. No new information, really, but that fact that Grondin is now doing interviews is a step forward. Notably, Grondin only refers to himself as the nightlife commissioner. Good luck with that. (CTV)
