Sounds like some good news.

The YOW Stage at EY Centre will open in November, creating a brand new 1,800 or 2,500 seat venue for music and performances.

Officially, it’s a pop-up space, allowing owner Live Nation Canada to bring in acts too big for the clubs and too small for the arenas.

The location is a little iffy – right next to the airport – but there is an O Train station there, which will open on some unknown future date.

Nothing has been booked yet but watch YOWStage.com for details.

🚊  Snake on a Train

  •  The O Train was paused at Hurdman Station for an hour Friday because of a loose snake. The unidentified snake was a pet and was reunited with its owner. For future reference animals banned on OC Transpo are, for your comfort: snakes larger than three metres, all predatory or large birds, and non-domesticated cats and dogs. (Josh Pringle at CTV)

☎️ Call 911, no the other 911

  •  The City will review a proposal for non-police mental health and substance abuse calls. The system would involve a new three-digit emergency phone number and be responded to by a team of mental health professionals, outreach workers, and peer support workers. If approved, the system would be limited to a single neighbourhood in 2024 before rolling out to the rest of the city. (Sarah Kester at CBC)

🛻 Convoy Update

  •  Two Convoy protestors successfully appealed to have a new hearing on moving their trials out of Ottawa. Former MPP Randy Hillier and protest organizer Pat King both previously failed in their bid to have their trials held somewhere else other than Ottawa over their worry that the jury pool would be biased. (Andrew Duffy in the Ottawa Citizen)

✅ Contracts Ratified

  •  155,000 employees with Canada Revenue Agency and the Treasury Board have ratified their contracts. The four year contract ends next year as the Public Service Alliance had gone three years without a contract. (CBC)
