We mentioned yesterday that cyclists had taken matters into their own hands and started using the newly pedestianized bridge. đĽď¸ Public Service - Federal government services are aiming to be âdigital firstâ. Terry Beech, the first ever Minister of Citizens' Services, says that he aims to make services digital first and digital by design. The former tech entrepreneur does not yet know which services will come under his purview and which will remain with their department. (Radio Canada International)
đ¨ Vexatious Litigant - The woman who was in charge of a troubled Black mental health charity will remain in jail. Althea Reyes has 20 charges against her including fraud over $5,000, personation, and uttering a forged document. In 2017, she was deemed a vexatious litigant by the court for launching multiple harassing lawsuits against people and businesses. Although she was not allowed to launch new suits without the courtâs permission, she continued to do so under pseudonyms. In 2021, after volunteers and staff at National Collaboration for Youth Mental Health complained of internal turmoil, it was discovered that its head, Maxine Adwella, was actually Reyes. While a bail hearing did not release Reyes from jail after her arrest, the allegations against her have not been proven in court. (David Fraser at CBC)

Just Announced / Now Booking - The Asinabka Film & Media Arts Festival 2023: Episode XII The Spirit Awakens (August 8 - 13) screens films across genres and lengths from Indigenous filmmakers from around the world. The screenings, plus curated art exhibits, workshops and panels, and music performances, will happen at the Ottawa Art Gallery, Club SAW, Gallery 101, and Berlin Nightclub.
