Nope, it’s back to things more Ottawa-esque: like building birdhouses, bird feeders, or garden art for the Mississippi Madawaska Land Trust fundraising auction, Backyard Beauties 2023. Cornish Hen is the star of Red Apron’s menu, and it is joined by risotto, salad, dinner rolls, and the exquisite sounding Raspberry Cheesecake Brownies ($59.95 for two people). There’s a kids’ menu too, featuring heart shaped pasta ($27.50 for two). Meow.
- Second Cup is really upping its hot drinks game. Yesterday they launched The Great Canadian Maple series of drinks (Chai Tea Latte, Latte, and Cold Foam Espresso) as well as the Winter Blues: Blue Almond Smoothie, Blue Butterfly Hot Chcolate, and Blue Butterfly Tea Latte.
- Peter Hum at the Ottawa Citizen says look beyond the no-frills demeanor of Thai-cuisine Tuk-Tuk and you may not be disappointed.
- Apartment 613 has discovered the Pōā Tiki Bar in ByWard Market and recommends the cocktails.
- After 47 years, ByWard Market has lost the House of Cheese. Victoria Joyal says the two Houses of Cheese – there was a four year-old one in Barrhaven – were the dream of her husband, Brad. Brad died of a heart attack last February.
- NarCity says these are the best new restaurants to have opened in Ottawa, in 2022: Starling, Tirweka, Kimonos, J'TM Resto Bar, Angelina, Dhruvees Restaurant, Dessert First, and Cadena.

Ecojustice Canada, representing the residents, say the fumes from the trucks are violating human rights. Tomorrrow Friday - Great Gatsby It’s Murder, presented by new Ottawa-based company Paper Picture Productions will be playing at local venues for a limited run starting this Friday January 13 at The Kanata Legion. The play, by Rachel Paul, is set in a sleazy speakeasy in 1920s Chicago. The show plays the Richmond Legion January 14, the NAC January 18 and Feb 9, and January 20 and 22 at the Arts Court. Proceeds from all the performances will go to Operation Come Home’s homes youth hot breakfast program.
