“One of the translations I was given of the name Tat’talu was little arm, and that means little arm of the river and understanding what it gives to us as Semiahmoo people. Those rivers were very important to us because they sustained us and gave us life. And that’s what this area is, that’s Ta’talu.” – Chief Harley Chappell, Semiahmoo First Nation. Staff and students at Ta’talu Elementary celebrated the school’s official grand opening today with a special Traditional Opening Ceremony and ribbon cutting. The hybrid mass timber building features 27-classrooms and is home to 220 students. For more information on the school, go to: sd36.ca/Tatalu
