Hey, UBCO Community!

So many things cost money nowadays, but staying active doesn’t need to be one of them! There are so many ways to stay active for free, and with creativity, these methods can be even better than their expensive alternatives. From the comfort of your own home, you can do body-weight exercises such as squats, lunges, push-ups, or planks. Or, put on some music and have a dance party! Not too keen on sweating? You can also partake in some relaxing yoga and stretching exercises. Outside, you can go for a run or walk. Listen to a podcast, choose a destination, bring a friend along, or choose a colour and try to spot everything you can in that colour as you soak in the fresh air and Vitamin D.

 

Don’t forget that you can also take advantage of the resources given to you for free at UBCO! If you’ve never used the gym facilities before, then not only do you get a free drop-in coupon for your first day at the Hangar Fitness & Wellness Centre, it is Free Fitness Week at the gym from January 13th-19th. Check out our website to stay up to date with all of the free and accessible opportunities being provided. There are countless ways to achieve your unique health and fitness goals for free.

Intercultural Sports Series continues!

Join a fun, inclusive, and low impact intro to belly dancing workshop, Badminton day, Volleyball games or Futsal tournament with various groups on campus! All abilities are welcome, no equipment or experience necessary. Wear clothing that you feel comfortable moving in and join in the fun!

Come join UBCO Recreation for a fun, pride themed free 60 minute yoga class in Studio 1. New to yoga? First time visiting the Hangar? Have no fear, yoga embraces individualized movement so you are able to relax or push yourself while listening to some queer artists. Bright workout clothes and water bottles encouraged! No experience or equipment necessary. Yoga mats will be supplied.

UBCO Recreation is excited to offer Cross-Country Skiing in partnership with Sovereign Lake! All ski passes will need to be purchased online to reserve your spot and rentals will be purchased at Sovereign when you arrive.
