PQI Community Monthly Email

April 9, 2024

Hello Everyone,

Hope you are having a terrific Tuesday!

We are only two weeks away from Quality Forum 2024! I know a lot of you were not able to attend this year (next year they are moving to a larger space), but I hope to see everyone I can who is there. Please send me a text if you'd like to connect! (250-661-2087) Check out the list below to see which of your colleagues have a session and/or a storyboard presentation.

If you are interested in sharing your work at, or attending, an IHI Forum there are details about upcoming submission deadlines and scholarship information in this email.

As our community continues to grow, we'd love to get your input on what is working well, where there are gaps and opportunities
, and any general feedback/ideas for improvement. As always, you can reach out to Alex, AliciaAlbert or Julia directly anytime, or bookmark/use this link as another way to share your thoughts:

Alum Shout Outs

There is a lot of amazing work being done by local PQI Alums! Check out these highlights:

Randal Mason (Cohort 5) shared his thoughts with the Times Colonist on the "Safer supply being too weak for most street-drug users"

Daisy Dulay's (Cohort 2) work with her palliative care colleague, patients and other healthcare disciplines is now available on the BCMJ: Supportive cardiology: Bridging the gaps in care for late-stage heart failure patients, considerations from a clinician, patient and loved ones perspectives. The clinician tool can be applied for those who have later stages of other chronic diseases and has been used by geriatricians and nursing colleagues.

It's available on the provincial Pathways and Daisy is happy to field any questions around introducing palliative care concepts for patients with advanced stage heart disease

Congratulations on your new leadership roles to both Jeff Kerrie (Cohort 6) Executive Medical Director, Quality, Safety, Improvement, Risk, Experience, and Research and Sarah Lea (Cohort 3) Medical Director, Education, Onboarding & Leadership Development!!!

Code Hack

The amazing Hamza Khan (PQI Faculty) and Abhinav Joshi (Cohort 7) were on the top two winning teams for Code Hack!!! First prize and the People's Choice Award went to Team Zero Blindness, and second place went to Team Fenta-Nil.
