July picnic meetup 🍉☀️🍉😎🍉

It’s our tradition to meet outdoors for our July meeting. We’ll meet at Trout Lake Park at 6:30pm on Monday, July 17. Look for us near the concession, at the East 19th Avenue side of the park—we’ll hang our guild bunting up in the trees. Family and friends are welcome!

If we need to cancel due to weather, we’ll make the call at noon on July 17 and will notify everyone by email.

Don’t forget:

• blocks for block lotto—Maple Leaf Block
• dinner and beverage for yourself and your guests
• snack to share—optional, but much appreciated
• quilt 😉 or chair to sit on
• quilts for Show and Share—email photos so we can share them
• your name tag.

We’re having a mini mod quilt swap at our July meeting!

Everyone is welcome to participate, here's how:

What to do

• Make a mini modern quilt, the design and binding is up to you
• Use VMQG fabric colours—Kona Aloe, Wasabi, Kumquat, Nightfall and Snow (or colours that match closely; no pattern fabric)
• Minimum size 4 x 4 inches to a maximum of 10 x 10 inches
• Include a label on the back: VMQG Mini Mod Quilt Swap, July 2024, made by (your name).

How it works
Your name will go into the swap group list, make your mini mod quilt and bring it to the July meeting to be swapped. If you can’t attend in person, you could have someone bring your quilt to the swap on your behalf, or reach out to the executive and we can help coordinate. We will randomly swap the mini quilts ensuring that every participant receives a mini quilt made by another member.

July Block Lotto—Maple Leaf Block

What’s more perfect for the upcoming Canada Day but to sew a Maple Leaf block or two. The Autumn Leaves block from the Delaware Quilts Block of the Month is easy to follow and provides multiple sizes. Combining several sizes makes for an eye catching quilt.

VMQG fabric bundles for sale

Back by popular demand! We’re selling bundles of fabric in our guild colours, Kona Aloe, Wasabi, Kumquat, Nightfall and Snow. 

Bundles are available in two sizes, each contain our five guild colours, all fabric is 100% cotton:

• Fat Quarter bundles of fabric $20
• Half yard bundles of fabric $40

For your convenience, bundles will be for sale—at cost—at our guild meetings. Payment can be made by e-transfer or cash. If you have any questions, please email Hillary president@vancouvermodernquiltguild.ca
