“Resilient Immunity: Why Colds and Flus Are Lasting Longer—and What to Do”

Join us for an informative webinar on cold and flu prevention and recovery,
where Dr. Jennifer Kerr, ND, will explore why seasonal viral infections are  becoming increasingly harder to fight off and what you can do to strengthen your immune system naturally.

The session will cover evidence-based prevention strategies —as well as effective treatment approaches that blend conventional and naturopathic care. Participants will learn how factors like viral evolution, antibiotic
resistance, and weakened immune resilience contribute to prolonged recovery times, and they’ll leave with practical tools to reduce symptom severity, speed up healing, and stay healthier throughout this winter season.

This webinar will be filled to the brim with information, one you surely do not want to miss!

IV Suite

Iron is an essential mineral that plays a critical role in energy production, oxygen transport, and overall wellness. Low iron levels can leave you feeling exhausted, foggy, and unable to keep up with daily demands. While oral iron supplements are often recommended, not everyone can tolerate them, and for some, they may not be effective enough to restore healthy levels.

Low iron levels can be caused by many factors including heavy menstrual bleeding, chronic blood loss, or conditions that impair nutrient absorption such as celiac disease or inflammatory bowel disease.

At Integrated Health Clinic, we provide IV iron treatments that deliver iron
directly into the bloodstream for rapid absorption and replenishment. This
approach bypasses the digestive system, helping patients who struggle with
gastrointestinal side effects from oral iron, poor absorption, or who need faster results.

IV Iron is prescribed by our licensed Naturopathic Doctors after a thorough assessment and lab testing to confirm deficiency. Each treatment is
individualized to your needs and administered by our experienced team of
Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses, ensuring both safety and
comfort.

If you’re interested in learning more, the first step is to book an IV screening with one of our Naturopathic Doctors.

Many of you have now had the pleasure of meeting and working with Dr. Sydney Moffatt, ND, my current resident. Through the years I have been privileged to have such intelligent, motivated, compassionate, and dedicated residents.

Doctors motivated to learn everything they can about the integrative management of those people living with cancer. Dr. Moffatt is no exception.

⚕️

My last resident Dr. Sarah Denotter, ND, FABNO has achieved the highest level of training in the naturopathic profession in oncology and is now board certified as a Fellow of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology (FABNO). As Dr. Sarah Soles, ND, FABNO did before her.

Dr. Alanna Rinas, ND, is also pending the writing of the FABNO exam sometime in the near future, after spending over 1000 hours with me while carrying on a full practice. Super impressive. She is busy with her new son and will be rejoining IHC in the fall of 2026.

As the ONLY naturopathic clinic with a palliative care physician on staff, Dr. Kevin Sclater, MD, doing research on the outcomes of our cancer patients, training NDs and MDs on the best care for cancer patients, we remain committed to providing the best naturopathic and integrative cancer care, anywhere, period.

We are honoured to work with each and every one of our patients that have entrusted our team to assist them in their lives.

✨Here is to the best 2026 we can hope for!✨

Women's Care Center

Currently through British Columbia the MSP cervical cancer screening program allows women to have screening Pap testing done every three years or HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) screening every five years. Many women wish to take a more proactive approach and have Pap testing and HPV testing done on a more regular basis. We now offer private pay pap and HPV testing with results back in less than 1 week. We believe this service provides patients greater choice in their cervical screening plan.

In the News

Menopause is a transition of life that will affect 100% of women who have the privilege of living to old age. However, it does not impact everyone the same. Many lifestyle and genetic factors can impact the duration and severity of symptoms each woman will experience.

Even ethnicity plays a role in timing and symptoms! There must be room for individualized medicine when supporting women through this important transition.

Blog

The very first antibiotic created was penicillin and it was quickly produced and distributed in the 1940’s. This began a miraculous journey through medicine where we discovered more novel antibiotics and were able to treat infections that once may have been fatal.

An amazing feat to be sure! Unfortunately, antibiotics and their remarkable ability to treat infectious diseases, have been compromised by their misuse and  overuse over the years, leading to the widespread emergence of antimicrobial resistance.

Antibiotic stewardship is a coordinated effort to improve how antibiotics are
prescribed and used by clinicians and patients, ensuring they get the right drug, dose, and duration for the right infection, to optimize patient health and combat rising antibiotic resistance. It's about using these precious medicines wisely to get the best outcomes while minimizing side effects, C. difficile infections, and resistance. Patient safety and future treatment should be at the forefront of our practices when prescribing due to the increasing prevalence of antibiotic resistance.

Phytocompounds found in herbs frequently exhibit potent antibiotic action, but not quite as strong compared to conventional antibiotics. The amalgamation of both natural compounds with existing antibiotics is an effective way to address the issue of antibiotic resistance. Synergism refers to the situation when the combined therapeutic impact of two substances exceeds the sum of their impacts. This has been clearly divulged in the literature when combining antibiotic medications with antimicrobial herbs. Herbs have many mechanisms of action that are too complex for bacteria to sort through and build resistance to, compared to antibiotic medication which is one mechanism that bacteria quickly figure it.

Think of combining antibiotics and herbs like a trojan horse - we hide the
powerful antibiotic in the complexities of a herb so the bacteria never see what hit them!

Examples of herbal synergy with antibiotics includes the use of berberine (a
compound found in Oregon grape and goldenseal) with vancomycin when
treating C.difficile associated diarrhea for increased efficacy of treatment.

Quercetin (found in apples, citrus, onion) and apigenin (found in parsley, celery, chamomile) are flavonoids known for their antibacterial effects against H.Pylori and E. coli by inhibiting D-alanine which is needed to create the bacterial cell wall. H.Pylori is a particularly stubborn organism to treat and the standards currently require quad therapy (2 antibiotics, bismuth and PPI) or concomitant therapy (3 antibiotics and a PPI).

Naturopathic medicine has a crucial role in upholding antibiotic stewardship while making sure the patients treatment is effective for them long term.

We will always try to incorporate the health of the patient, the community and the environment.
