The City is moving permits to the Cloud!  Online building permits for new simple projects will be available this summer.  Currently new residential builds - SFD, Duplex and Carriage house are live with more to come online.

We had one successful workshop and plan to have more in the future.  If you want to be added to future workshops, please register below.

Where a resolution to a result related to a plan review or inspection deficiency is not possible with a City Building Official, a formal Appeal request can be made by the appellant and is to be submitted to the Building Department. See Code Appeal Form

Permit Valuations

Marshall Swift, permit valuation system has recently updated their "current cost multipliers" for residential construction.  This may cause an increase to your permit valuation.

For commercial construction staff will be auditing submitted construction values using current construction data from Altus Group - Canadian Cost Guide.

Are You Ready for EV Ready?

Site Safety and Tidiness

Building and Bylaw officers have been finding some active construction sites are triggering safety complaints.

Several reports have involved construction materials being stored on roadways and City boulevards.  In addition to blowing debris, tripping hazards and unsafe parking.

Building Officials can refuse to enter a site to conduct reviews under the WorkSafe BC Construction regulations.  Additional parking enforcement may occur as well.

We are counting on the site project leads to keep all workers safe.

Education Opportunities

Education and Workshop opportunities are posted on our "Building Updates" page
