Learn to become a swim and lifesaving instructor

This 40-hour course will train participants to become certified swim instructors. Swim instructor certification is necessary for getting a super-fun, well-paying job at a pool. Participants must have strong swim skills and a high level of comfort in the water. REGISTER HERE

Aquafit - Deep Water Running

This class will focus on a deep water, low impact workout that will increase intensity weekly through intervals, pyramids and tabata. REGISTER HERE

Aquafit - Deep Water Tabata

Tabata is a form of interval training consisting of 20 seconds of high intensity, followed by 10 seconds of rest. Using this format in deep water with simple but intense exercises, this class will blast away the calories and increase endurance and strength. REGISTER HERE

Try something new

Dance Groove 5-7yrs or 8-12yrs

This kid's dance program is a fun and creative way to keep your child active. We will work on basic dance techniques while building muscle strength, coordination skills, increased flexibility, and improved balance. Children will learn about correct posture and body awareness while moving their bodies to different dance styles and music. This class is for all levels and no previous dance experience is required.

Women's Ice Circuit Training 19+yrs

Not ready to jump into our hockey programs just yet? Or simply looking for a totally different type of workout? We got you! Welcome to circuit training on ice. We've incorporated skating drills with strength training stations on ice for a fun interval training session.

Beginner Line Dancing 55+yrs

Line Dancing is choreographed steps done to a specific piece of music. This program starts out with basic steps and as dancers progress more advanced steps are added in. All dancers are welcome! No previous dance experience is required.

International Dance (19+) is another fun and exciting class where you will explore international forms of dance.

Painting Christmas Cards 55+yrs

Do you want to send Christmas cards to a few special people? Learn how to turn blank cards, made with watercolour paper, into miniature paintings that will delight whoever receives them. In this class you’ll learn basic watercolour techniques as well as new ways to create art using simple items, such as salt and crayons, to make six different cards.

Training Opportunity

We will reimburse* your
Class 4 Driver Course

Squamish Recreation and Culture has offered bus trips to our 55+ community for more than four years. Our community of qualified volunteer drivers makes these bus trips possible, at a reduced rate  for all participants. We are hosting Class 4 driver courses to grow our volunteer driver base, and will reimburse* successful participants the full cost of the course. This course will allow participants to obtain an Unrestricted Class 4 Driver’s Licence, in order to safely drive our 14-passenger program van.

* The District of Squamish will reimburse you for approved course and exam fees (approximately $490) as follows: 50% upon successful completion of the Class 4 road test, 50% upon meeting the commitment of volunteer driving for four bus trips in 2023.

Ceremony

The Royal Canadian Legion will be holding a ceremony at the cenotaph in Stan Clarke Park. The road will be closed on Cleveland Avenue from Main and Cleveland to the edge of Stan Clarke at around 9:30 a.m. to accommodate the ceremony and will remain closed until after the ceremony, approximately 12 p.m.

The public are invited to view the ceremony and can begin to gather around 10:45 a.m.

Parent and Child Hockey:
9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. | 10:45 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.
