Safety Capsule: Take-off performance data from your POH: are they reliable?

Loss of control in flight (LOC-I) is one of the biggest causes of death in general aviation. Loss of control in flight can happen in any phase of flight, but is especially deadly during takeoff. Loss of control can be caused by engine failure or equipment failure, but often it is due to the inability to clear an obstacle during takeoff. It is important to correctly calculate the required take-off distance including the distance required to fly over an obstacle. Your POH contains performance data to calculate the required distances. But should you rely on this data?

Contrary to what had already been announced, the 2023 Annual General Meeting will be held in virtual mode via ZOOM. We want  to give the opportunity to all our members who are distributed throughout Quebec and those across the border to join us for this meeting.

The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. The agenda of the annual general meeting as well as the relevant documents will be sent to all members in good standing two weeks before the meeting.

So we give you an appointment. This will be our opportunity to update you on what we have accomplished over the past year, our financial situation and our plans for 2023.

Members in good standing can register by going to the Aviateurs.Québec website by clicking HERE

News from one of our partners: Select Aviation

The Select Aviation team (Daniel Giraldo, Nathalie Fortin, Raphaëlle Rolland and Pierre-Alexandre Menguy) had the pleasure of meeting Alsim representatives at the Aeronautical Training and Professions Exhibition in Paris - Le Bourget from February 3 to 5. Alsim is the French manufacturer of the simulators we use at college for flight training.

Here is a short video that shows how Select Aviation, via one of these simulators, puts these student pilots to the test.

Our Facebook page Vols d'accompagnement

Our support program: an opportunity to encourage the next generation, offer coaching and experience the pleasure of flying.

Do you often fly alone? So why not offer your empty seat to a young pilot who will be able to gain additional experience to his training or to another experienced pilot?
