Pearson Welcomes New Director, Indigenous Initiatives & Engagement

We are excited to welcome Rebecca Beauchamp, who brings local and international experience and a confident vision to her new role as Pearson College UWC’s first Director, Indigenous Initiatives and Engagement.

In her new role, Beauchamp will guide implementation of the College’s Indigenous Vision and Reconciliation Action Plan with responsibility to lead and strengthen Indigenous education support and the College’s engagement with Indigenous communities and organizations. A Glimpse into Lucio's Life After Pearson

"Follow your dreams, your heart and your own path. Take your time and don't be afraid!", were some of the words of advice Pearson alumnus Lucio Ravagnani Navarrete (Year 37/2012, Argentina) gave to current UWC students when we recently spoke with him about his Life After Pearson and his first novel "Los Cuadros De Aspo".

Celebrating Alumni Success

For first-year international relations student at Mount Allison University, Mohammad Ammori (Year 44/2019, Palestine/Syria), the journey to receiving his Bell Scholarship has been long and filled with adversity. After escaping war and displacement, graduating from Pearson in 2019 he joined the Katimavik national experience, before he settled into his new life in New Brunswick.

This academic year they have over 3,800 enrolled scholars—a new high—from 165 countries on nearly 100 American college and university campuses. Can you spot all the Pearson alumni?

Meet UWC International's New Executive Director

If you didn’t manage to catch the recent UWC Unlocked Community Village Meetings with the new Executive Director of UWC International, Faith Abiodun, you can watch the recordings on the Resources section of the UWC Hub or in the video above. Both talks were lively and engaging with moderation from UWC alumni and current students, and lots of questions from the live audience. SUMMER LEADERSHIP DAY CAMPS

REGISTRATION OPENS APRIL 6!

This summer, the campus of Pearson will again take on a younger vibe with Pearson Experiences Summer Outdoor Leadership Day Camps for 6 to 14-year-olds.

During week-long day camps running from July 4 to August 5, 2022, kids from across southern Vancouver Island will participate in activities such as hiking, kayaking, sports, arts and crafts, drama, dance, leadership and team building, unique cultural celebrations and much, much more on campus.

Abiodun, an academic in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, and conflict management served in three peacekeeping operations in Macedonia, Haiti, and Bosnia-Herzegovina as Special Assistant to the Special Representative of the Secretary-General, and Political and Humanitarian Affairs Officer.
