We are now accepting nominations for the CSZ’s T.W.M. Cameron Outstanding Ph.D. Thesis Award! Eligibility: the PhD thesis must have been accepted at a Canadian University within the period of July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2024 Nomination process: please send a letter indicating your reasons for the nomination to zool.gradprgm@ubc.ca The T.W.M. Cameron Outstanding Ph.D. Thesis Award annually recognizes the author of an outstanding Ph. D. Thesis in Zoology submitted to a Canadian University. The recipient of the award will be invited to present a lecture on the subject of the dissertation to the annual conference. In order to facilitate attendance of the recipient at the meeting, reasonable expenses for air travel at minimum rates and all accommodation and meals at the meeting will be paid by the Canadian Society of Zoologists, up to a maximum of $1,500. -
For Graduate Students: Reminders for the new academic year! 2024W Term 1 Tuition Deadline Deferrals A friendly reminder to graduate students who are waiting for their GRA or GTA salaries to pay Winter Term 1 tuition and need a tuition deadline deferral to November 30, applications are open until August 31 for 2024 Winter Term 1: https://ubc.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cw0JHfpA16wf2RM Please note: Mimi will begin putting in GRA and Biology GTA appointments in August; unfortunately, students won’t be able to apply for the deferral until they have a Term 1 appointment in Workday and we aren’t able to hire more than 2 pay periods before the appointment start date. Please let Mimi know if you’re planning to apply for this deferral and she will prioritize your appointment for processing so it’s in Workday earlier ***Students with tuition awards typically don’t need this deadline deferral unless they require more time to pay their student fees, which share the same deadline as tuition but is not covered by tuition awards Registration: 1) Please register in your thesis (ZOOL 549 001) or dissertation (ZOOL 649 001) course!
