Outbreak Notice of an Unidentified Respiratory Virus at CHSLD Heather
We are declaring an outbreak of an unidentified respiratory virus whose symptoms resemble pneumonia in Unit 2 of our CHSLD as of July 1, 2024.
Our infection prevention and control team works in collaboration with the CHSLD team. Measures have been put in place and are being applied. Close monitoring is also being done on units that currently have no cases. All our teams work together to prevent the spread. We have dedicated staff to infected residents and avoided moving staff to different micro-environments..
Affected residents are currently in droplet-contact isolation. Stay attentive, as the situation can change and so can the measures.
For all workers as well as caregivers and visitors, wearing a procedure mask (blue) is mandatory throughout the Unit 2.
In our concern to inform families of the evolution of the situation in our establishment, here is the state of the situation of this day:
- 2 suspected cases among our residents
- 2 cases recovered among our residents
- 1 death
- No active cases among our employees
MESURES TO RESPECT ON OUTBREAK UNITS ONLY
- Only one visitor at a time is allowed in the room of a resident of the outbreak unit and a distance of one meter must be respected between people.
- Make sure you have NO symptoms resembling COVID-19, flu or gastro before visiting a loved one,
- Rigorously respect basic health instructions in the living environment,
- The procedure mask must be worn throughout the unit.
Do not bring any coats, bags or personal items onto the units or into a resident's room.

It remains important to ensure rigorous application of infection prevention and control measures in order to limit spreading the virus.
Residents who test positive are in isolation in their rooms. Deconditioning prevention activities are in place for them. Exit from the environment is not permitted for the positive person.
PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES TO BE RESPECTED AT ALL TIMES FOR ALL VISITORS
We ask that you continue to complete the visitor log so that we can communicate with you in the event of an outbreak during your visits. Make sure you have NO flu-like or gastro-like symptoms before visiting your loved one.

We thank you for respecting the basic infection prevention measures and those in force in the outbreak units. Our residents are at risk and so are our employees. It is together, by respecting the measures, that we can help reduce the risks of spread.
