Public Works Week Public Works Week is May 18 to 24, a time to recognize the vital role public works plays in our daily lives. From planning and building to managing and operating, public works teams are at the heart of our communities, working to improve our everyday quality of life. In Squamish, this work is visible both on and beneath our roadways through infrastructure like water, sewer, storm systems, roads, streetlights, and communications networks, and throughout our parks and public spaces. Public Works staff are available seven days a week to keep essential services running and respond to challenges as they arise. | | Drop-in Chat with the Mayor Please join Mayor Armand Hurford and Councillor John French for casual community conversations among fellow Squamish residents at Municipal Hall. All are welcome! When: Wednesday, May 21 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Where: Municipal Hall, 37955 Second Avenue (Council Chambers). RSVP is encouraged to communications@squamish.ca | | Adopting Innovative Technology The District is using new technology to make time-consuming work more efficient. One example is land surveying, which is typically a slow and labour-intensive task. By using a drone, the same job can be completed in a few hours instead of a few days. This technology reduces the time staff need to spend in the field, speeds up decision-making, and provides more accurate information for project planning. While drone surveying isn’t suitable for every situation, it’s a strong example of how innovation can save time, lower costs, and shorten turnaround times. | | Access Property Tax and Utilities Online Property owners are encouraged to create a MyCity account to access Property Tax and Utility notices online. For more information on how to create an account and register your Tax and Utility Bills to MyCity, please visit the link here. The District is aware of the potential Canada Post strike, which could disrupt mail delivery and delay in receiving Property Tax and Utility notices by mail. Questions? Feel free to contact us at: | | Citizen Satisfaction Survey Reminder: The deadline to complete the Citizen Satisfaction Survey online has been extended to Tuesday, May 20 at 4 p.m. Hearing from the community is essential for the District of Squamish to understand how residents are doing, and how the District is performing when it comes to delivering programs and services. Survey responses will help guide strategic planning, budgeting, and service improvements. Your feedback will support Council and staff in making informed decisions to better meet the needs of everyone who calls Squamish home. | | It's outdoor season, so if you're out and about, here are a few friendly reminders to keep everyone safe and help protect the places we all love: - Bears are out and active. Don’t leave food or bags unattended, especially at trailheads like Smoke Bluffs. Store all scented items properly and make sure to pack out everything you bring in.
- While recent rain has helped, conditions can dry out quickly. Avoid anything that could start a fire and follow all local rules and restrictions.
- There’s day-use parking at Smoke Bluffs, the Adventure Centre, and Brennan Park Recreation Centre. Street parking is an option too, just check the signs before you leave your car.
- Sites fill up quickly, and a lot of popular spots may already be booked. Check out Tourism Squamish for info on where to camp responsibly.

Swim Schedule Update Starting Saturday, May 31, Lane Swim on Saturdays will be split into two separate sessions instead of one continuous block. This change allows us to better support all swimmers and create clarity around different swim environments. New Schedule: - 12:15 to 5:30 p.m. – Lane Swim (during Public Swim)
- 5:45 to 8:00 p.m. – Lane Swim (during Sensory Friendly Swim)
The earlier session will run alongside Public Swim, while the later session will now align with the existing Parent & Child Sensory Friendly Swim. The evening time is intended to offer a quieter, more relaxed pool experience. Thanks for your support as we continue working to make the pool a welcoming space for all. Featured Program Seniors' Open Gym: Join us for 90 minutes of non-instructional exercise time. Open to those aged 55+, we have a variety of equipment including treadmills, ellipticals, recumbent bikes and free-weights with staff supervision included.
