IRES and the Faculty of Land and Food Systems are seeking an interdisciplinary scholar who uses econometric and other quantitative techniques to investigate human dimensions of biodiversity conservation. For example, research interests may include how individual and institutional actions affect conservation outcomes, or how biodiversity conservation affects aspects of human well-being. Review of applications will begin on November 25, 2021 and continue until the position is filled.

October 28, 2021: IRES Professional Development Seminar with Suzette McFaul

Suzette McFaul is the founder of SEF Canada, a local sustainable business model in resource-based communities, working with 300 communities in 22 countries creating independent economies. As Founder of Clean Gold Community Solutions, recognizing artisanal miners are entrepreneurs, she married the SEF Entrepreneurial Development program with the resources needed for sustainable artisanal mining communities.

November 2, 2021: Publishing In the Open: A Discussion on Open Access in Canada | Moderated by Stephen Chignell, IRES Ph.D. Student

There is a great deal of activity in Canada that has advanced open access nationally, including publishing bodies and initiatives, and national granting opportunities and requirements. Call for Applications: CGS-M & Affiliated Fellowships-Master's

UBC Affiliated Fellowships-Master's

The UBC Affiliated Fellowships Master's competition runs in concert with the Canada Graduate Scholarships-Master's (CGS-M; see below) competition. Approximately 50 fellowship with values ranging from $175 to $16,000 are offered through this competition. Current and prospective full-time UBC-Vancouver graduate students can apply regardless of citizenship or visa status. Students who are eligible for the CGS-M must submit a CGS-M application in order to additionally be considered for Affiliated funding.

Tri-Agency Canada Graduate Scholarships-Master's (CGS-M)

Applicants for Tri-Agency CGS-M competition must be domestic students (Canadian citizen or PR) who are applying for or enrolled in graduate studies anywhere in Canada. Each applicant can select up to 3 universities with the same application. To be considered for a CGS-M at UBC, they must select The University of British Columbia as one of the 3 available institutions.
