Create beautiful holiday ornaments, savor apple cider generously provided by Goldsmiths Orchard Market, and enjoy classic carols with friends and family. Kick off the festive season before heading downtown for the Olde Fashioned Christmas events. Don't miss out on this heartwarming celebration!

This is a drop-in program suitable for all ages, so bring everyone along!

"Celebrating the Magic of Children" featuring BVCS students opens Saturday, December 9

Saturday, December 9, 2-4pm (The Gallery at L.E.Shore)

Coming soon to the Gallery at L.E. Shore: “Celebrating the Magic of Children in the Arts” – an art exhibit featuring Beaver Valley Community School (BVCS) students! Enjoy the display as you warm up with hot apple cider and treats and then head down to the Olde Fashioned Christmas events happening in downtown Thornbury!

It's ski season at the museum

Come see three new exhibits on skiing in The Blue Mountains. Learn about the evolution of skiing and snowboarding equipment, the history of local ski clubs, and the running of the Ski Train.

The Library Board invites the community to attend the welcome reception for our new CEO, Jennifer Murley, on December 7 from 1-3pm. All are welcome!

Please note: L.E. Shore Library will be opening at 11am on Wednesday, December 6 for a staff meeting with the new CEO.

Bring your favourite ratty t-shirt and mount it on a canvas to make wall art!

This program is part of the Youth Engagement Committee. Have your say on library programs and services, get involved in your community, and meet new friends! Being a part of the Youth Engagement Committee (YEC) gives you a chance to suggest ways that the BMPL can better serve our youth community, offer ideas for exciting teen programs, and provide feedback about the library's teen collection. A great way to acquire your high school community involvement hours while having fun!

Write a book or movie review and earn community hours!

Earn community service hours by reviewing books and movies. For every review you submit you will earn one hour of community service.

  • 250 – 300 words in length
  • contain a summary and personal critique
  • be suitable for publication on our website

Holiday entertaining with The Cheese Gallery

Friday, December 8, 6:30pm (The Gallery at L.E. Shore)

Explore the world of cheese as The Cheese Gallery’s cheesemonger and cheese expert walks you through the tips and tricks of building an Instagram-worthy holiday cheese board. There will be lots of time for questions, sampling and socializing as participants will be able to enjoy the cheese board made during this session!

Tickets are $25 and must be booked by end of day December 1.

Kids Clubhouse winter registration opens December 18

Monday, December 18 starting at 10am

Kids Clubhouse, where fun meets exploration! Dive into arts and crafts, STEM programs, and science experiments! Tuesday afternoons from 3:30-4:30pm at L.E. Shore Library.

The winter session runs Tuesday, January 9 to Tuesday, March 5.

Limited spaces available. Registration link will be posted on our website at 10am on Monday, December 18.

In this fun and family-friendly program, we'll be crafting adorable Mini Flowerpot Elves just in time for the holiday season. Whether you're a child or a child at heart, this hands-on craft event is a perfect way to get into the holiday spirit. This activity is suitable for all ages and skill levels, making it an excellent opportunity for families to come together and enjoy some creative holiday bonding.  Registration is required.

Join us in the Gallery for a very special Story Time!

Special Guest Mary Hindle will be with us, playing holiday songs on the piano. Meet us for heartwarming stories, delightful rhymes, and lots of fun as we get into the holiday spirit!

Knit and Knatters Knitting Club is every Thursday

Every Thursday, 1-3pm (Around the fireplace at L.E. Shore)

Our informal knitting club is open to enthusiasts of all skill levels, and we invite you to join us in our cozy and friendly space. All you need to bring are your needles and wool, and you'll have the perfect setting to knit, chat, and forge new friendships. Drop-in program.

There will not be a meeting on December 21 or 28.

Are you interested in joining a book club led by Grey Sauble Conservation?

Collectively we will explore nature-based titles, providing a great opportunity to learn more about the environment, spark meaningful conversations, and share ideas with others who are interested in these topics. Together we can learn, grow, and support one another in shared efforts to raise environmental awareness. Meetings will be at L.E. Shore Library with dates and times to be determined.

Join our 10-hour program by Walks N' Wags, hosted by the Blue Mountains Public Library and Georgian Triangle Humane Society. Learn essential skills: wound care, poison treatment, CPR, and more. Receive a Pet First Aid certificate and a manual upon completion. Bonus: Eligible for a discount on Pet Professional Insurance. Be prepared for pet emergencies and enhance your ability to provide immediate care.
