ADVENT AND CHRISTMAS GREETINGS

Matthew 8:8: “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof; but only speak the word, and my servant will be healed.”

Come let us prepare once again to celebrate the coming of our Lord into the world. Christ is coming, let us prepare our home for him. He is the light of the world. He wants to come to my home and share a meal with me. How do I prepare my home? My heart is his dwelling place.

SPIRITUAL REFLECTION

BEYOND OPTIMISM TO HOPE

The third Sunday of Advent, Gaudate Sunday, and the readings at Christmas, invite us to rejoice and exult. A natural reaction might be to ask how can we rejoice, with all the darkness in the world today: polarized societies, the scourge of wars and violent conflict, blatant racism, corruption, sexual abuse, human trafficking, natural disasters, to name some, and on top of all that, a lingering pandemic affecting us all?

STREET OUTREACH - WINDSOR, ONTARIO

Agapao Proseuche (unconditional love & prayer) started with the vision of one man (Joe Ouellette) in the winter of 2021. In addition, Joe provided blankets, coats & boots as he had them available to these individuals.

QUESTION & ANSWER

QUESTION

Can the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul partner with other charitable organizations to serve people in need?

ANSWER

The Rule (3.19) acknowledges that cooperation with other organizations in works of charity and justice is appropriate. SSVP is a Catholic organization and the beliefs of the Church must be preserved in partnerships with others organizations. It is also required that affiliated groups participate in the delivery of services as opposed to providing funds without active participation. This applies to other Christian charitable organizations and non-Christian community-based groups.

Active participation is not a requirement in the case of government and/or community foundation grants.

Non-Catholics may participate in the charitable work and the fraternal life of the Society but they are not eligible to hold office in the Society.
