Rock climbing lessons

Learn to climb at Beyond the Crux Climbing Gym!

Rock climbing lessons were so popular in September, UBCO Recreation is offering a second round of lessons! For $50 you can register for four fun-filled nights at Beyond the Crux Climbing Gym. Become confident and comfortable on the wall and learn essential climbing skills. Lessons start October 20 and run from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.

Run with Rec

Challenge yourself to a 5km run this fall!

Join Recreation on October 30 for a group run/walk around the campus trails! Meet at the Hangar parking lot (M lot) at 10:00 am for an organized run with a great community of runners. Registration is free. All ages and abilities are welcome, including walkers!

Open Access Week Events

UBC partners have collaborated to create a robust series of online events in celebration of Open Access Week. Events span from October 22 to 29 and cover many relevant topics. From beginner and myth-busting workshops to discussions about Creative Commons, Open Education and Indigenous Knowledges, there is something for everyone. Suitable for students of all levels, staff, faculty, and community members.

Getting back to your old normal virtual event

Are you anxious about returning to in-person events?

MHAAC (Mental Health Awareness and Advocacy Club) is hosting a virtual event on Oct. 26 at 6:00 pm to discuss tools and strategies around returning to in-person and to our old normal. Ask questions about this topic or learn more on how to feel less worried about in-person school (and outside school) life.

Kickoff Thrive with a java

UBC Thrive is back! Each November, we come together to learn, talk and explore mental health.

Stop by the Thrive welcome booths outside UNC and ADM (by the bus loop) on November 1 from 7:00 to 9:00 am for a coffee and more at the Thrive Kickoff Coffee event.

 

 

Research to practice webinar

In this Zoom webinar, Dr. Sharon Kassalainen, RN, Professor & Gladys Sharpe Chair in Nursing, McMaster University, will provide an overview of the Strengthening a Palliative Approach in Long Term Care (SPA-LTC) Program and tools and resources to facilitate the implementation of the program.

This webinar will take place on November 24 from 10:00 to 11:00 am.

Further your student experience with the Tuum Est Initiative Fund

Looking to attend a conference or student competition, but don’t have the funds? UBCO offers financial support to students looking to attend a conference, bring a new student initiative to campus, or attend a student competition! Depending on the type of funding you’re seeking, you could be eligible to receive up to $3500!

Not sure where to start? The Tuum Est Student Initiative Fund Program Assistant is available to provide support when completing your application.

Help shape BC's future

Now’s your chance to have a direct impact on governmental policies and services.

The StrongerBC Young Leaders Council is seeking members between the ages of 14 to 26 to work with the Premier’s Special Advisor on Youth, MLA Brittny Anderson. Through collaborative discussion, your ideas and input will help shape government priorities to better reflect the needs of young people on topics such as employment, the environment, mental health, affordability, and more.

The deadline to apply is October 27.

Come grab a free hot chocolate with SVPRO's "Did you know?" campaign

SVPRO will be offering free hot chocolate every Wednesday morning in November from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm in the Courtyard outside of the library. Stop by our table to grab a cup and learn more about UBC's Sexualized Violence policy. Each week we will highlight a different section of the policy and break it down to help you learn about your rights. You will also have the chance to win cool prizes in a draw at the end of the month by collecting at least three stamps on our hot chocolate loyalty card!
