PRP: The Ultimate Natural Skin Treatment

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy is a natural, effective approach to achieving healthier, more youthful-looking skin. This treatment uses the body’s own regenerative properties to enhance skin texture, tone, and elasticity.

PRP is derived from a small sample of a patient’s own blood, which is processed to concentrate platelets and growth factors. When injected into the skin, these elements stimulate collagen production, support cell renewal, and promote a more radiant complexion. Fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and uneven skin texture can all see noticeable improvement with PRP therapy making it an excellent treatment for the under eyes, necks, lip lines, and pigmented skin.

Since PRP is sourced from the body itself, the risk of adverse reactions is minimal. The process is simple, minimally invasive, and suitable for all skin types. With each session, the skin gradually becomes firmer, smoother, and more luminous.

Results begin to appear within a few weeks, with continued improvements over time. Many individuals choose multiple sessions to achieve optimal outcomes. PRP is an excellent choice for those seeking a refreshed and revitalized appearance through a 100% natural and personalized approach.

Book a consultation today to discover how PRP therapy can help you to achieve glowing, youthful skin.

Fatigue Isn't Just Cancer - It Could Be Anemia

Fatigue is one of the most common and frustrating symptoms cancer patients face. While cancer itself, treatments, pain, stress, and poor sleep all contribute to low energy levels, underlying blood deficiencies—such as low vitamin B12, vitamin D, thyroid dysfunction, and iron deficiency—are often overlooked. These labs are not routinely checked during cancer treatment, meaning patients may experience fatigue that could be improved with targeted interventions.

Cancer-related anemia, in particular, is frequently missed due to inflammation, which can distort iron test results. However, when properly diagnosed, it can be effectively treated with oral or intravenous iron. Intravenous iron is especially beneficial, as it bypasses the digestive system, providing a faster and more reliable increase in iron levels—critical for cancer patients whose gut absorption may be compromised.

While many factors impact energy during cancer, addressing correctable deficiencies can significantly improve quality of life. Anything we can do to make the cancer journey more manageable is worth pursuing.

March is Colorectal Cancer Month!

According to the Canadian Cancer Society, Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the 4th most common cancer in Canadians. In fact, it accounted for 10% of all new cancer diagnoses and 11% of cancer-related deaths in 2024. It is estimated that 1 in 16 Canadian men and 1 in 18 Canadian women will develop colorectal cancer in their lifetime.

In British Columbia, it is recommended that individuals who are at average risk for colon cancer and are between the ages of 50-74 and who are not experiencing symptoms, should undergo screening every 2 years with a fecal immunochemical test (FIT), and a colonoscopy every 5 years for those with personal history of polyps, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s colon cancer, or family history . Please refer to the BC Cancer screening recommendations here.

Symptoms of CRC include blood in the stool, changes in bowel habits or stool consistency, unexpected weight loss, abdominal gas, bloating, cramps, fatigue, and nausea or vomiting.

In recognition of March as Colorectal Cancer Awareness month, we are thrilled to announce the acceptance of our manuscript on stage IV colorectal cancer patients in the Global Advances in Integrative Medicine and Health journal titled “Integrative naturopathic treatment model for colorectal cancer: A retrospective study". The study shows that IHC patients that integrated our integrative treatment including hyperthermia within the first 3 months of diagnosis, have a statistically significant improvement to survival. Specific details of the study will be shared once officially published. The meticulous work involved in this study has been ongoing since 2010 , and is now planned for publication later this month.

Doctor Favourite Receipes

This is one of my absolute favorite salad recipes from Quinoa 365 by Patricia Green & Carolyn Hemming:

Pomegranate, Almond, and Feta Salad

Salad Mix

½ cup water

¼ cup black quinoa

½ cup sliced almonds

4 cups spinach leaves

¾ cup crubled light feta

¼ cup sliced red onion

1 pomegranate, seeded

Dressing

3 Tbsp red wine vinegar

3 Tbsp olive oil

4 tsp honey

1 tsp Dijon mustard

Salt and pepper to taste

Bring the water and quinoa to a boil in a small saucepan.  Reduce to a simmer, cover and cook for 10 minutes.  Turn the heat off and leave the covered saucepan on the burner for an additional 4 minutes. Remove the lid and fluff with a fork.  Set aside to cool.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Spread the almonds on a baking sheet and toasted in the oven for about 5-7 minutes, until they are fragrant and lightly browned.

Sprinkle the feta, onion, quinoa, pomegranate seeds and toasted almonds evenly over salad.

Whisk the vinegar, oil, honey and Dijon in a small bowl:  season with salt and pepper .  Dribble the dressing over the salad.
