Saskatchewan expands breast screening eligibility to women aged 40+

Saskatchewan has reached the fourth and final phase of lowering the eligibility age for routine breast screening. As of July 1, 2026, women aged 40 and older can now book a screening mammogram through the BreastCheck program.

Code of the Month: Code Purple

July’s Code of the Month focuses on Code Purple: Hostage Taking. Staff are reminded to remain calm, follow the direction of the hostage taker if directly involved, and avoid actions that could escalate the situation. Staff who are not directly involved should move to a safe location and avoid the affected area. Ongoing awareness, clear communication, and familiarity with local response procedures are important to support a coordinated and safe response.

3sHealth - clarity on Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) application process

If you’re trying to understand your coverage and treatment options for sleep apnea, you’re not alone. More people are being diagnosed each year as medical professionals continue to highlight the benefits of treatments like Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy.

Several years ago, the Government of Saskatchewan added CPAP devices to the Saskatchewan Aids to Independent Living (SAIL) program, which oversees the loan of CPAP machines to eligible patients. As a result, group benefit plans no longer cover the private purchase of CPAP devices. Instead, plan members are referred to the SAIL program to access a machine.
