Public Works will be working on the sewer connection in front of and around the library beginning October 1 and continuing for approximately four weeks. The library is still open during this time—please enter at the north Annex entrance as usual.

However, the east side of the Library parking lot will be closed during this time.

Submit Your Best Two-Sentence Horror Stories This October!

Throughout October, people of all ages are invited to write their best two-sentence horror stories and submit them at the Bowen Library!

We’ll post them in the library for all to read, and even share some on our social media, website, and newsletter. Get into the Halloween spirit and get creative—how much horror can you pack into two sentences?

Need some inspiration? Read some samples here.

Pick up a bookmark-sized submission sheet at the library, or print it at home from our website and fill it in, then drop it off at our front desk. You can also submit your two sentences via email to info@bowenlibrary.ca.

Teen Advisory Group

Thank you to the fantastic teens who participated in our first Teen Advisory Group meeting! You shared great ideas on what you would like from the library, and recommended a ton of books, which we've compiled into a TAG September Booklist for all to see.

We will be hosting another TAG meeting in the next few weeks, so please email us if you are or know a teen who would like to participate, and we will send you the upoming October date and time, once determined. You can also keep an eye on our Events Calendar, Facebook, and Instagram for TAG info.

Teens are welcome to register with us via email or drop in to any TAG dates.

TAG is for teens who want to help make the Library more teen-friendly, have an idea for a teen event, or want to recommend books for our collection.

Have your say by joining the Teen Advisory Group. Have fun, meet other like-minded teens, and gain community service hours and experience all at the same time.

Bring Your Own Book Club for ages 18-35 yrs

If you’re between 18-35 and want to discuss books and meet other young Bowen Island book lovers, drop in to one or all of our Bring Your Own Book Club dates.

This is a welcoming group where you can rave (or rant!) about a book you’ve read or an audiobook you've listened to, and find your next great read.

Even if you almost never read books, if you've read one at some point and have some thoughts about it, you're welcome here!

Our next meeting dates are Saturdays October 16 and November 20 from 12-1 pm.

See our Booklist created from BYOBook Club members' recommendations so far. (Join us and add your recommendations to the list!)

We will meet in the Library Annex but could move outside depending on the group’s preference and if weather permits. Masks are required indoors and COVID protocols will be in place, but proof of vaccination is not required.
