If left unchecked, these cervical changes can progress to cervical cancer. As of 2024, BC has transitioned from traditional PAP testing (testing cells taken from the cervix) to HPV testing as the primary screening method for cervical cancer. In the event of a positive HPV result or early stages of abnormal cervical changes, patients are often left wondering what they can do. Escharotic therapy is a gentle, non-surgical treatment that helps clear away abnormal cervical cells and encourage healthy new growth. It uses natural herbal and mineral solutions applied directly to the cervix, usually once or twice a week for 10–12 visits. The exact number depends on how much the cells have changed. Along with the in-office treatments, carefully chosen oral and vaginal supplements are used to support the body’s healing process and to address viral component of cervical dysplasia (HPV). The clinical results that we see using these protocols have been impressive, with dramatic improvements in cervical health. With proper medical supervision, escharotic therapies have been used safely for many years with good benefit. This treatment is not intended to replace current screening or clinical recommendations, however it is to be used as a complementary therapy to reduce the occurrence of repeated positive testing and the need for further surgical management of cervical dysplasia, while supporting the body to clear HPV infection. If you have questions about cervical cancer screening, treatments guidelines, or whether escharotic treatment might be right for you, please speak to your naturopathic doctor, see our website at: https://www.integratedhealthclinic.com/service/escharotic-treatment/ or contact the office at 604-888-8325. Integrated Health Clinic (IHC) Research Department – August 2025 The IHC Research Department continues to build momentum in integrative oncology research with several exciting developments and milestones. 📄 Recent & Upcoming Publications • Our paper on integrative naturopathic treatment for colorectal cancer (CRC)—titled "Integrative Naturopathic Treatment Model for Colorectal Cancer: A Retrospective Study"—was published in Global Advances in Integrative Medicine and Health in March 2025. This work highlights the importance of early integrative oncology in improving survival outcomes for CRC patients. 🔗 Read the publication • Our second paper on the effect of integrative oncology on survival outcomes in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM)—featuring modalities such as modulated electro-hyperthermia (mEHT)—has been accepted for publication in Integrative Cancer Therapies and is currently in the production queue. 🧪 Case Reports Initiative • We have received REB approval to document and publish exceptional patient outcomes through a case report series that highlights the potential of integrative oncology approaches. • So far, we have nearly completed two detailed case reports on patients with metastatic melanoma, both showing durable remission following multimodal integrative treatment. • A third case report is also underway, focusing on long-term survival in a patient with GBM treated at IHC. 👥 Patient Partner Engagement • We have welcomed three Patient Partners into our research team, who are actively contributing to the co-design of upcoming research projects. Their lived experience is central to ensuring our studies are relevant, ethical, and patient-centered. 🔬 Upcoming Research & Grants • We have submitted a grant proposal to Gateway for Cancer Research to conduct a randomized controlled trial (RCT) evaluating the effectiveness of modulated electro-hyperthermia for patients diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme, using a Phase II RCT design. • We are also currently designing a qualitative study to better understand patient experiences with integrative oncology at IHC. • Additionally, we are developing a real-world evidence study to explore the cost-effectiveness of integrative oncology care.
