Privacy Matters: Questions from the Community

UBC's cybersecurity team answers questions from staff and faculty in a new "on-demand" series called: Questions from the Community. Topisc include best practices for email communications, how UBC malware tools work and what UBC's firewall rules mean for IoT (Internet of Things) or other instrumentation.

Enforced Monthly Updates

To stay compliant with UBC’s information security standards, UBC managed devices are required to run current software versions and have all required security updates installed. Our Desktop Architecture team have automated this process to happen monthly to UBC supported devices.

Once updates are available, you will have up to two weeks to restart your device. If you don't regularly restart your computer, or if it is a bigger update, it may take longer to install so we recommend doing this at the end of the day to minimize downtime

Printer Troubles?

Most printers on campus for students, staff and faculty are Ricoh devices. If you are experiencing any troubles with Ricoh printers, please contact Ricoh Support first by calling 1-800-267-9469 with the device serial number.
