Current construction projects

Will Your Commute be Affected This Week?

Up-to-date information on City construction projects:

  • Metral Drive is getting prepped for paving between Turner and Aulds. Traffic control will aim to keep traffic flowing; however, please display patience for the workers as they endeavor to do this work as quickly as they can. Expect major delays on paving days – check social media for updates.
  • Mobility upgrades are taking place at the intersections of Bruce Avenue at Sixth Street and at Albion Street. Commuters should expect minor delays.
  • Park Avenue between Fifth Street and Seventh Street will be closed in both directions for a sanitary sewer upgrade. The road closure will be in place for 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Access is available for local traffic and emergency vehicles only. A detour will be in place using Bruce Avenue and the closure will remain in effect until the sewer upgrade project is completed in September.
  • Along the Nanaimo Parkway between East Wellington Road and Northfield Road construction crews continue to work on the Midtown Water Supply Project and are making their way to the intersection of Northfield Road with the trench preparations. Commuters should expect merging construction traffic entering the Nanaimo Parkway south of Northfield Road.
  • Beban Park has detours within the park and areas of restricted access for the Midtown Water Supply Project. Access to the Stevie Smith Bike Park and the Community Gardens is off Bowen Road past the tennis courts and golf course. In an effort to protect the public and provide a safe working area, certain areas of the park are fenced off and restricted for all non-construction personnel.
  • Milton Street from Fitzwilliam to Wentworth will be closed September 28, 2022 from 8am – 5pm for demolition of the existing Fire Station hose tower. Traffic control will be onsite to assist pedestrians and local traffic.
