There are only a few weeks left to apply for the Professional Lands Management Certification Program (PLMCP) – Level II: Technical Training

Delivered by NALMA, this program focuses on the specific roles and responsibilities of a First Nation lands manager operating under the Indian Act (RLEMP). It is also valuable for First Nations managing lands under other land regimes. Level II builds skills, strengthens knowledge, and increases awareness of best practices in lands management.

• Learn about the funding available to communities under RLEMP by reviewing the document prepared jointly by Indigenous Services Canada and NALMA.

Registration Closed: Foundations of Environmental Monitoring Training

Registrations are now closed for our upcoming Foundations of Environmental Monitoring Training facilitated by Firelight! This two-day training will strengthen your understanding of environmental monitoring and enhance your ability to apply community-based and Indigenous-led approaches through shared learning and practical insights.

• The first day will explore what environmental monitoring is, how to do it, and why it is important with an emphasis on planning-based best practices that can be applied to any level of monitoring.
• The second day will focus on applying this knowledge through shared learning, participant experiences, and practical exercises tailored to diverse community contexts and priorities.

Dates: March 10 & 11, 2026

Location: Gatineau, Quebec

NALMA National Workforce Study Survey

NALMA is undertaking a National Workforce Study to better understand the past, present, and future of land management across Canada. This study will help us identify current and emerging workforce needs, understand training pathways, and strengthen NALMA’s capacity to support Land Managers, Land Technicians, and communities across all regions.

We are asking all PLMCP Certified Land Managers who receive it to participate, whether they are still working as land managers or not.

The survey will take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete and will be open from January 12 to February 20, 2026. Your responses will remain confidential, identifiable information will not be shared unless you voluntarily choose to enter the prize draw at the end of the survey.

FNHPA Sponsorship Program: TD Upskilling Program

The intent of the FNHPA Sponsorship Program is to assist those employed in First Nations housing with no or limited training and development funding to access professional support from the FNHPA. The objective of the TD Upskilling Program is to reduce barriers to accessing education and training through upskilling or micro credentialing support.
