The Fraser Highway One-Way Project will improve the area for our businesses, residents, and visitors. It includes replacing aging underground infrastructure and revitalizing the Fraser One-Way with more greenery, new gathering spaces, and better pedestrian amenities.

Completed works

Installation of Concrete Curbs

New concrete curbs have been installed along the roadway to help separate travel routes for vehicles and pedestrians.

Fun Fact: Concrete curbs help define the edge of a roadway and are installed to support proper drainage of the road.

Installation of Asphalt 

The first layer of asphalt has been installed to support improved driving conditions.

Fun Fact: Asphalt is typically installed in two layers to help improve the overall roadway strength and durability. 


 

Ongoing and upcoming works

Removal of Existing Sidewalks

The existing brick sidewalks along Phase 2 will be removed in preparation for the installation of new sidewalks.

Fun Fact: The new sidewalks will include a concrete finish with a widened corridor to help improve pedestrian accessibility.

Installation of Silva Cells

Silva cells will be installed in the roadway boulevard to help improve water suppy to new street trees.  

Fun Fact: Silva cells help support tree growth by holding soil and water, while allowing roots to growth through openings in the structure. 


 

Things to know as construction continues

Construction will generally occur during the day, but some work may take place on weekends or at night. Noisy construction activities won’t be allowed at night.

As construction continues, vibrations will occur.

• Limited off-street parking is available between Salt Lane and 206 Street.

Work progress dates are based on anticipated construction schedules and may change as work continues.


 

Businesses are open

Access to businesses along the one-way Fraser Highway will remain open. Customers can enter through the front doors of all establishments

Traffic control signs and personnel will ensure the safe passage of pedestrians and vehicles during construction.

• Some parking will be available on the One-Way between 206 Street and Salt Lane.

• Langley City Hall: 37 free parking stalls
