 Turning Our Commitment into Action

Show your commitment to Truth and Reconciliation with an SHA orange shirt

Also known as Orange Shirt Day, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Sept. 30 is a time to learn, reflect and show support for reconciliation. One way to participate is by wearing an orange shirt.

Developed under the leadership of the First Nations and Métis Health team, the SHA Orange Shirt features artwork that honours First Nations, Métis and Inuit cultures. It reflects our commitment to respectful, culturally-safe care and our shared journey toward reconciliation.

Proceeds from every shirt sold will be donated to the Orange Shirt Society.

Registered Social Workers Provincial Community of Practice: Truth and Reconciliation in Social Work Practice

📅September 24 🕑 2:30 p.m.  🌐 Register 📄 Poster

Presenter: Carrie McCloy, Faculty member with the Indigenous Social Work Program at the First Nations University of Canada.

This presentation will examine how colonial systems disrupted relationships with land, family, culture, and identity and will consider how social workers can support healing practices rooted in respect, responsibility, reciprocity, and connection. By appreciating the more-than-human world, we can explore reconciliation through ethical, relational, and land-based practices.

Join the SHA Mentorship Program

The SHA Mentorship Program continues to grow, and we need more mentors.

Share your knowledge, experience, and insights - become a mentor and support a mentee’s development. You don’t need to be a formal leader or have all the answers. Mentoring is about listening, sharing your perspective, asking questions, and helping someone navigate their development. Your experience could be exactly what someone else needs.

To join the Mentorship Program, visit MyConnection and select the Mentorship Tile under HR > Mentorship Program.

The SHA Mentorship Program connects employees to share knowledge, strengthen leadership capabilities, and learn from one another through supportive, meaningful relationships. Designed as a flexible six-month program, it supports mentors and mentees to connect in ways that fit their schedules and preferences, including virtually, by phone, or in-person.
