The NCCHPP will take part in the Public Health 2026 Conference, March 11 to 13, 2026

Are you attending the Public Health 2026 conference? We would be delighted to see you there!

Here’s an overview of the activities we have planned for this conference:

1. Session: Equity-Informed Responses to the Growing Public Health Threat of Wildfires and Smoke: Perspectives from the National Collaborating Centres for Public Health (NCCPH)
Presented by the six NCCPH
Wednesday, March 11, 4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

This session will present recent evidence on the underestimated effects (immediate, lasting, and potentially very costly) of wildfire smoke in Canada, which disproportionately affect Indigenous people, as well as the necessary interventions and the roles of public health in preparedness, response, and recovery.

2. Session: Equity in Crises: Addressing Inequities in Emergency Contexts
Presented by the NCCHPP, the NCC for Determinants of Health and the NCC for Infectious Diseases
Thursday, March 12, 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

This workshop aims to equip public health professionals and decision-makers to integrate and sustain equity throughout the emergency cycle, in order to prevent that rapid decisions made during crises do not exacerbate existing inequalities.

Poster Presentation
Our colleague Martin Renauld will present a poster on the upcoming Reflection Tool to Strengthen Organizational Capacities for Healthy Public Policies.

This tool, to be published in the coming weeks, is designed for public health practitioners who want to reflect on strategies to strengthen their organizations’ capacity for healthy public policies. To view the poster, click here.
