PODCASTS

Nanaimo 150: Did you know?

The City of Nanaimo's original public works buildings were constructed at the Labieux Road location over 60 years ago (in the 1960's). The first buildings on the site were the fleet maintenance, truck barn, administration and the casting shed and paint barn. The casting shed and paint barn was where vehicles would get painted and would later be repurposed to become part of the administration building. All of these buildings still stand and are in use today.

Midtown Water Supply - watermain sliplining

A new watermain was slipped through the old main that was once the primary water supply for most of Nanaimo. By using this technique, we only had to dig two large holes on Bowen Road instead of trenching the entire street.
