Connecting with nature offers numerous benefits to physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being for people. However, immigrants and ethnic minorities in Canada often encounter significant barriers to outdoor recreation and nature access.
To explore these challenges, the University of Alberta conducted a study on how New Canadians perceive provincial and national parks and how their park experiences contribute to their sense of belonging and connection to nature.
Join us to delve into the obstacles newcomers face in accessing nature and to highlight the vital role of support programs and community initiatives. Discover how parks can help newcomers connect with their identities and serve as spaces for community-building, mental well-being, and spiritual healing.
