NEW: Continuing Competence Program Overview (Video)

Participation in the Continuing Competence Program (CCP) is an annual requirement for all actively practicing LPNs.  This annual requirement has been in place since 2017 and applies to all nursing professionals across Canada.  It is every LPNs personal responsibility to be aware of their practice requirements as per the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics in order to maintain their licensure.

We urge all LPNs to watch this short 5 minute CCP video to ensure you are aware of the steps required.  Eventually all LPNs will be audited - being prepared will ensure a smooth process.

SAVE THE DATE: NEW CCP WEBINAR!

ANBLPN is conducting two live CCP webinars on September 27th at 1:30 PM and September 30th at 7:30 PM.  This live webinar will replace our past 2019 CCP webinar and will provide you with information on why LPNs engage in continuous learning, how to complete the process, and what CCP looks like across Canada.

It has now been 5 years since LPNs in New Brunswick have been required to complete this annual regulatory requirement and all LPNs should be aware of how to complete the process.  Being "unaware" of this regulatory requirement is not a sufficient reason for failing to complete this requirement.

Registration required.

NEW "HOW TO" VIDEO - PROFILE UPDATE

You can update your profile at any time throughout the year to ensure your contact information is up to date.  Watch this short 2 minute video to learn how to update your address, phone number and email.  This video will also show you how to update your name if you have had a legal name change.

It is every LPNs responsibility to ensure they are keeping their contact information up to date - we use this information to keep you informed on regulatory requirements, audits, educational opportunities and more!

Preceptorship Incentive

Do you remember what it was like to be a student? Do you remember how nervous you were, and also how eager you were to learn? If so, why not consider preceptoring a student as they transition into their nursing career?

In conversations with the colleges, ANBLPN has learned that the colleges often struggle to find enough preceptors for their PN students. Preceptoring students can be very rewarding and every LPN has something different to offer to students.

To help increase participation in preceptoring students, ANBLPN is running a "Preceptorship Incentive"! Anyone who accepts to preceptor a student will be entered into a draw to win FREE REGISTRATION. There will be 3 lucky winners; one for preceptoring a PN student from each college cohort (NBCC, CCNB and Oulton College).  More details to follow in the coming weeks!

ANBLPN has also published a short fact sheet "Working with Nursing Students" and will be hosting a live webinar to help guide both students and preceptors throughout the experience - stay tuned!

ANBLPN would like to thank all those, past and present, who have taken the time to preceptor students.  Your time and efforts are appreciated!

NEW: Fact Sheet - Working with Nursing Students

Our new Fact Sheet, Working with Nursing Students, is now available on our website (www.anblpn.ca - MEMBERS - PRACTICE RESOURCES).

Supporting practical nurse students is an ethical and professional expectation of all LPNs, yet many are hesitant and unsure of what their accountabilities are when working with students.  This fact sheet will outline the accountabilities of both the LPN and student and how to facilitate a supportive, collaborative relationship  between LPNs and students.

We invite all members to review this document and encourage you to take part in preceptoring students as they develop the skills and competence required of nursing professionals.

WORKING WITH NURSING STUDENTS

NEW: Fact Sheet - Aesthetic Nursing
