In group workshops, various topics are covered to assist in preparing for, finding and maintaining employment, as well as health and safety. Each pathway will bring you a step closer to enhancing wellness, increasing employability, and strengthening confidence.

Vision & Goals Setting, Building & Maintaining Safety, Career Research and Confidence Building, Addressing & Overcoming Impacts of Violence/Abuse, Resume and Cover Letters, and other relevant topics.

Services and Program Incentives may include:

Group Workshops & Employment Coaching, Childcare Top-up Costs, Food Cards, Clothing Support, Bus Transportation Costs.

Delivery of the program:

Fully online, meaning it can be accessed at home, with just a computer/tablet/phone and internet connection.

TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES

Essential Computer Skills for the Workplace (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

Upon completing this training, participants will learn Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.This five-day online course is offered by DIVERSEcity’s Skills Training Centre. Learn general office administration and computer skills for the workplace using advanced computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Eligibility: Please check with your case manager/ employment counselor.

Accounting & Payroll Certificate Program 

The Accounting and Payroll Administration program will provide a thorough working knowledge of fundamental accounting, bookkeeping and payroll procedures. The program provides the skills necessary to administer payroll and to maintain manual or computerized accounting records. This program is ideal for someone with some office administrative assistant or clerical experience who would like to move to a position in bookkeeping, accounting or payroll. It is also useful for someone who needs to manage the finances of their own business.

Diploma in Digital Marketing and Office Administration and Professional Communications and Marketing 

is designed to help participants develop practical and organizational skills to handle administrative tasks in general office settings with a focus on online marketing and junior bookkeeping skills. DMOA enables students to learn the fundamentals of online marketing and gain hands-on experience by applying the latest digital marketing skills.

The Canada Advanced Manufacturing Leader training program is a 12-week training program to help provide participants with skills needed to start mid-level careers within the advanced manufacturing sector including technical training, leadership skills, job readiness, and job placements.

Early Childhood Education Assistant Training

The Entry to Early Childhood Education Assistant Training Program is a collaborative project between Vancouver Community College (VCC) and Pacific Immigrant Resources Society. This comprehensive 16-week interculturally inclusive and accessible skill training program is designed to equip new immigrant and refugee women and individuals facing multiple barriers to employment become skilled and certified ECE Assistants. Graduates will be fully prepared to enter the ever-growing and in-demand early childhood education field as ECE assistants and/or pursue further education.
