Do you know Carbon Monoxide?
It is a sneaky, inert gas. Invisible, odorless and colorless, this gas causes numerous poisonings and deaths throughout Quebec.
Do you have a garage attached to your home, or a combustion appliance inside your home that uses wood, pellets, propane, natural gas or oil as fuel?
If you answered yes, you are at risk and must install a carbon monoxide detector within five meters of your bedrooms, according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Recognize the sound of your carbon monoxide detector. It is different from that of your smoke detector.
Sound the alarm to all members of your family.
If the alarm goes off, you must evacuate the building and call the fire department by dialing 911. Firefighters will arrive on the scene and carry out the usual checks.
