Safety capsule: Carburetor icing

In the following image, the red dots identify the hourly temperature and dew point conditions as recorded in Mirabel on November 7, 2023. You can see that we are in a season that is most conducive to situations of severe carburetor icing.

Know how to recognize the danger and, above all, master the actions to take in the event of carburetor icing.

NOTE: This diagram does not apply to automotive gasoline (MOGAS) because it is more volatile than other fuels; it is therefore more prone to carburetor icing.

Digital displays across Canada will mark the two minutes of silence

This year, thousands of digital billboards across the country will fade to black on Remembrance Day, to be replaced with a message of remembrance and three important numbers: 11-11-11.

The Royal Canadian Legion's new initiative includes the voluntary decision by several major advertisers across the country to mark the traditional two minutes of silence which takes place from 11 a.m. to 11:2 a.m. on Remembrance Day, by displaying no advertising during this period of time.

“At the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, we hope that everyone who is able to do so will stop and take two minutes of silence,” says Bruce Julian, National President. "We hope this initiative will remind people, no matter where they are at the time, how important it is to remember the sacrifices of our fallen Canadian Veterans." »

TSB investigation report: Stall and collision with terrain at Saint-Rémi

On April 21, 2023, a private Cessna 150G was conducting a local flight under visual flight rules from a private field in Saint-Urbain-Premier (Quebec) with a student pilot and a passenger on board. While flying at very low altitude over a house located in the municipality of Saint-Rémi (Quebec), the aircraft carried out a low altitude maneuver before hitting an electricity distribution line and crashing into the parking of a private house. A fire broke out and the aircraft was destroyed. The 2 occupants, seriously injured, were extricated from the aircraft and transported to a hospital center.

News from one of our partner : Quebec Aerospace Museum

The École de Technologie Supérieure (ÉTS) has become the second “Platinum” corporate member of the Québec Aerospace Museum. This membership is completely in line with one of the QAM's objectives aimed at directly integrating the educational environment into the museum's projects. Note that on two occasions already, end-of-study projects had been proposed by the QAM to groups of Mechanical Engineering students from ÉTS. This membership should therefore make it possible to perpetuate this collaboration between the two organizations.
